Thrust area of KVK
The thrust areas mentioned below are identified by KVK for the Kota district
- To enhance the productivity of Soybean, Mustard, Wheat, Coriander and pulse crops
- To promote INM, IPM and weed management
- To promote Soil Health management for sustainable agriculture
- To promote diversification in agriculture through fruits, vegetables and medicinal crops
- To promote modern dairy farming, goat rearing and back yard poultry
- To develop vocational skills for self employment through food processing & value addition, dairying, nursery, vermi-composting, beekeeping, seed production, mushroom cultivation & back yard poultry
- To create awareness for maintenance and drudgery reduction in agriculture implements
- Women empowerment through vocational education and nutrition
- To promote integrated farming system for more profitability
- To promote climate resilient technologies
Trainings
The KVK provides two types of trainings- 1. Short duration trainings- like On campus trainings of 2-3 days and Off campus trainings of one day. 2. Long duration trainings of 5-50 days depends on the budget & sponsored ship. The budget is provided by ICAR and other sponsoring agencies, like- Agriculture department, RMoL, NHM, Zila Parisad, NGO etc. On an average this KVK conducts 50 to 60 need- based training programs in a year for farmers, farmwomen & rural youth. More emphasis has been given on long duration self employment oriented training for school dropouts & unemployed rural youth. Many participants on completion of the training have been Successfully self employed by way of establishing their own Poultry, Animal, Nursery, Fruit & Vegetable Processing, Jewellery making, beauty parlour, Pump repairing & Beekeeping unit. Efforts have also been concentrated to empower the women component technically as they play a very vital role in agricultural operations.
Demonstrations
Every year Krishi Vigyan Kendra conducts several demonstrations on farmers fields on technologies released by research institutes and Universities. These are mainly related to latest released varieties, methods to control pest & diseases, technologies to increase yields, agri implements to reduce drudgery of women, technologies to reduce cost of production, grow and best utilization of feed and fodder for animals to increase milk production.etc.
Technology Assesment and Refinement
For any major problem in agriculture there are many remedies suggested by various research organizations. Through on farm testing Krishi Vigyan Kendra does comparitive studies in farmers fields to come to conclusion which of the technologies tested is more suitable to the resources available & is cost effective. This is a form of participatory study where farmers perspective is given most importance. The results of such studies can later be made available to farmers.
Other Extension Activities
Kisan Mela, Technology Week, Field days, Radio Talk/ T.V.Talks, Mobile SMS services,Night Camps, Vichar Gosthi, Diagnostic Visits, Farmer Scientist Interaction and Farmers Visit at KVK.
Literature Development
Folders, leaf lets, booklets, compendium etc are being developed to benefit the farmer on latest technical know- how.
Seed Production at Instructional Farm
Quality seed of promising varieties are being produce at KVK farm for benefiting the farmers.
Planting Material
Quality planting material of different fruits of Guawa, Anola, Mango, Papaya, Pomegranate along with vegetable sapling.
Value added Product
The KVK also prepare value added product like Nutrameal (Soyabean Sattu), Pickles, Anola juice, Candy, Laddu etc. and sale among the needy Person.
